Terms of Service
Last updated July 2026
These terms govern your use of ThetaRecap (“the service”), operated by ThetaRecap. ThetaRecap is currently in public beta. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. This is a plain-language summary written to be read; it is not a substitute for legal advice.
1. What ThetaRecap is
ThetaRecap is a trade-accounting and analytics tool. You import your own trading history — today as broker CSV files — and ThetaRecap organizes it into campaigns, computes cost basis and performance metrics, reconciles those figures against your broker statement, and generates optional shareable recap cards. ThetaRecap describes your own trading history. It does not execute trades, hold funds, or connect to your broker to place orders.
2. Not investment advice
ThetaRecap is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or financial planner, and nothing it produces is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. All statistics and insights are computed solely from data you import and describe your own past behavior. You are solely responsible for your trading decisions. See our disclaimer for the full statement.
3. Your account
You must provide a valid email address and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be of legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. One person or entity per account unless we agree otherwise in writing.
4. Your data and your content
You retain ownership of the files and data you upload. You grant ThetaRecap the permission needed to store and process that data to provide the service to you. We never ask for or store your brokerage login credentials. How we handle your data is described in our privacy policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload data you do not have the right to use;
- attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt the service, other accounts, or the underlying infrastructure;
- resell, scrape, or build a competing dataset from the service; or
- use the service to violate any law or exchange rule.
6. Billing, cancellation, and refunds
During the public beta, the service is free and nothing is charged. When paid plans go live, our billing pledge applies and is part of these terms:
- Monthly billing; the annual term is the only discount.
- One-click cancellation from the billing portal, anytime.
- A 30-day, no-questions-asked refund on your first paid month.
- On cancellation you drop to the Free tier; your immutable raw uploads remain yours and you can export your data.
Prices are shown on our pricing page. We will give reasonable notice before any price change and will never retroactively charge you for a period you have already paid.
7. Beta status
The service is provided during beta “as is” and may change, break, or be unavailable. We label beta features honestly and do not attach a “verified” badge to anything derived from a CSV import — verification requires an API-synced account, which arrives later. Do not rely on the service as your sole system of record for tax or regulatory purposes without checking the figures.
8. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThetaRecap is provided without warranties of any kind, and ThetaRecap is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for trading losses. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which, during the free beta, is zero).
9. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination you may export your data for a reasonable period.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date. Questions about these terms can be sent to the contact address published in the app.
